Outpatient Treatment Programs are broken down into two additional levels of care:

  • Rehab Programs that are designed to treat those individuals who use is more chronic. These individuals often have inadequate support systems or health care needs that require more attention and monitoring. These programs often run for four to five hours a day, three to five days a week.
  • Clinic Programs that are designed for individuals who are employed and/or in school, but require the assistance of a program to help maintain abstinence. These programs often meet one to three times a week for one to two hours.

In general outpatient programs offer group, individual, and family counseling. Additionally, some programs offer vocational services.

Most programs work with individuals at this level of care for up to a year.

Services at these clinics may include:

  • Outpatient substance abuse services
  • Emergency treatment
  • Screening
  • Psychiatric diagnosis and evaluation
  • Outreach
  • Individual and group counseling
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Family therapy
  • AA counseling and meetings
  • Consultation
  • Education
  • Continuing care

Case management services are generally included. Services for alcoholics, children of alcoholics and other family members are available.

Most clinics can offer special services for adolescents, elderly, handicapped and other groups with special needs.  Also available are day- and evening-intensive services as well as after-school-intensive services for adolescents. Contact each provider individually for further information.
