CSO Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities

TASC has been in operation since 1978. It provides all of Westchester County’s forty-three (43) local courts and the County Court with an effective alternative to incarceration. By supplying case management, referrals and monitoring for defendants suffering from mental illness and/or substance abuse, TASC has diverted thousands of citizens from criminal involvement into more productive and stable lives. Over the past five years, TASC has screened over twelve thousand individuals and admitted almost nine thousand into the case management program.

How Does It Work?

When a court, Assistant District Attorney, Department of Probation, or a defense attorney refers a client to TASC, a face-to-face, formal intake assessment is conducted by the TASC worker assigned to that jurisdiction.
