The Department of Community Mental Health plans, oversees and coordinates services for individuals - and their families - with mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse disorders. Based on recommendations made by the Autism Advisory Committee, a series of initiatives to make the county “autism friendly” and deal with gaps in services for families with children on the autism spectrum are underway. In the last year, we added several programs to help families that care for children with autism, including a program to provide monitoring bracelets.
